About Christ in Conversations

Who?

For all Christians who want to be well equipped for everyday evangelism. You'll find guidance and practise having gospel conversations about topical issues and tough questions. The aim is that you can live and speak for Jesus with confidence and humility.

You don't need to be an expert on the subject (or feel confident in talking about it at all!) The aim is to be a learning community where everyone can gain confidence. This means:

  • Content is pitched at a level suitable for any thoughtful Christian - it might stretch you at times, but you won't need to have a degree to understand it. Our speakers are experienced and have read a lot and they'll aim to point you to useful resources to read further.

  • Everyone is welcome to ask questions and to contribute - you'll be sitting around a table with other Christians who also want to learn, so you can ask them whatever questions you have (or just listen in quietly if you prefer). There are no stupid questions!

Why?

At the Centre for Christianity in Society we want to equip Christians to live faithfully and share Christ effectively. Christ in Conversations is a key way to do that.

This programme has become possible because of the generosity of Windsor Baptist Church in giving us the use of its building and the commitment of some of its members to our mission.

What?

Each run of Christ in Conversations includes five 90-minute sessions in three parts:

1. BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR GOSPEL CONVERSATIONS

An introductory session for newcomers to Christ in Conversations and those who want a refresher exploring principles from 1 Peter 3 for effective and fruitful gospel conversations.

2. PRACTICAL GUIDANCE ON SPECIFIC TOPICS

Three sessions giving practical guidance and creating space to practise conversations about specific subjects, including big questions people ask, topics in the news and upcoming holidays with a Christian background.

3. OPEN TO QUESTION

The final session is evangelistic. It is a relaxed space with refreshments for participants to ask whatever questions they have about God and faith to one or more of the Christianity in Society team - there is no set agenda and no talk - just questions and answers. The aim is that participants in the preceding sessions invite friends along.

The five sessions will be organised in one of two ways:

  • A series of five week nights.

  • A weekend, with the first session (for newcomers) on Friday evening, the three middle sessions on Saturday and the final (evangelistic) session on a subsequent evening.
